Honey Cottage is a real Irish sweetie. The cottage is over 200 years old and looked very sad and unloved before we completely renovated it. We have created a beautiful and authentic Irish cottage with every luxury and comfort from which to explore Ireland's dramatic Atlantic coast. The cottage is secluded, sits in seven acres of land running down to the River Stragar and is 1.5 miles from the fishing port of Killybegs.

About the cottage
Outside the cottage
Guide books are peppered with images of idyllic thatched cottages in Ireland and many visitors are surprised at how few now remain. The cottage was completely rethatched using traditional Donegal flax (from which Irish linen is made), the plastic door removed and the cottage given back its traditional half door to enable people to cook and look out at the countryside. The cottage has been furnished with the best of everything for the comfort and enjoyment of guests.
As part of our commitment to restoration of Irish heritage we have planted 1,500 native Irish trees. You will need Wellington boots to explore the land as the land in Donegal can be boggy.
