Honey Cottage
Honey Cottage is a real Irish sweetie. The cottage is over 200 years old and looked very sad and unloved before we completely renovated it. We have created a beautiful and authentic Irish cottage with every luxury and comfort from which to explore Ireland's dramatic Atlantic coast. The cottage is secluded, sits in seven acres of land running down to the River Stragar and is 1.5 miles from the fishing port of Killybegs.

Getting there
Honey Cottage is 5 minutes' drive from the major fishing port of Killybegs in Donegal which is the most northwesterly county in Ireland.
There are regular flights to City of Derry Airport with Ryanair from London Stansted, Luton, East Midlands, Liverpool and Glasgow Prestwick. The Cottage is a 1hr 30 min drive from City of Derry Airport via Letterkenny, Donegal Town and then over to Killybegs on the N56.
There are also flights from Glasgow Prestwick and Dublin to Donegal Airport with Aer Arann at Gweedore which is a 50 minute drive away from the Cottage.
Is it right for me?
The Cottage is 200 years' old in a rural location and you will need to drive. It is the real deal and has no doubt had many a family meal prepared in it and many a conversation around the fire, and is most suited to those looking for a high quality and authentic Irish holiday home. It sits in seven acres of land but this can be boggy and serves as a 'buffer' to make sure the Cottage is on its own and bungalows aren't built all around it, rather than a recreational facility, although obviously our guests are free to explore the land. One glance around the Irish countryside will testify to sheer volume of building there and the need to protect this Cottage and its immediate surroundings.
Several miles away, in the distance, across the valley is a quarry and you may hear some distant noise from it whilst you are outside the Cottage. But do note this is the Atlantic coast and the Donegal weather is unlikely to have you spending much time outside! The cottage itself is well insulated with three foot thick walls, two feet of thatch and double-glazed windows, so there is little chance of hearing anything on the inside! There is very little traffic noise (either people or cars) and no aircraft noise.
There is no TV – conversation, music and drinks around the fire are the order of the day – in this original cottage with all the Swell touches.
